USAPL Women's Nationals

My powerlifting training is coming along well.  I got 230 fo 5 last night on heavy bench day, and that is right along the highest I have ever done.  Looking forward to the USAPL Championships here in Atlanta on May 21st.  I will not be able to compete because I did not qualify last year, but I will be there to watch.  Make sure to drop by and say hello!

 

Get Glutes or die trying..lol

Doing a new squat routine.  Changed my whole stance trying to take some pressure off my back.  I herniated a disc after Jr's in 2009 and it has been a pain ever since so I am just trying to figure out a way to let my hams and glutes take over the load.  I think I have finally figured out the footing, and my butt has been killing me ever since.  I am excited though, because after all these years--the one thing that has eluded me is glutes.  I know I have been told to just squat deeper and frankly I sit on my ankles so I couldn't possibly get deeper, but with a sumo stance, I am doing way better.  I developed a program to slowly increase the weight as I familiarize myself to the stance and it is working...Yay...

Heavy Daze!

Experienced something that I have never done in all of my years of lifting and that is a lot considering I have been in the gym religiously for the past 13 years.  Getting ready to start my deadlifts.  First set.. Light set with 135 on the bar.  Did a couple good reps getting warm and then..bam.  Fell down.  I straight up passed out like a drunk or something.  Got back up and was fine and it turned out to be a stong day, but one I never expected.  Crazy but this is my life.

Time for some power!

Started a new POWER training program.  Just squat, bench and deadlift twice a week alternating between heavy and light (technique) days.  Should be fun!  I have been training the same way for so many years that ths will be a refreshing change.  I'll keep you posted as the workouts progress.
